QWEL (English) - Livermore, CA - In-Person (Mornings)

     Register today for this FREE QWEL certification training course sponsored by Zone 7 Water Agency!

The QWEL training will be facilitated in-person by one of our highly rated QWEL certified instructors and is available to professionals living or conducting work in the Tri-Valley (Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, and the Dougherty Valley of San Ramon).

The in-person classes will cover all sections of the QWEL reference manual. This includes topics on:

  • Sustainable landscape design principles,
  • Soil properties and health,
  • Plant water needs,
  • Overhead spray irrigation system audits,
  • Irrigation system troubleshooting and maintenance, and
  • Irrigation system programming and operation.

Zone 7 Water Agency will be providing a free copy of the QWEL reference manual. Upon confirming your registration, you will be asked if you would like a copy of the manual. Alternatively, students can download the manual for free here.

In order to obtain QWEL certification, individuals must complete an irrigation audit (covered in class) and pass the QWEL exam. The QWEL exam will be administered in-person on March 1st.

Additional details will be provided prior to the class after you register. 

  Those who earn their QWEL certification will be listed as a Certified Professional on the QWEL and U.S. EPA WaterSense websites.
Funding for this project has been provided in part from the Water Quality, Supply, and Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2014 and through an agreement with the State Department of Water Resources.

SCHEDULE DETAILS

By registering for this class, you are committing to attend all of the following sessions:

  • Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 15, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, February 22, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
  • Exam Day: Wednesday, March 1, 2023 from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Light refreshments will be provided at the beginning of each class session except on exam day. Students should plan to bring their own lunch to class as lunch will not be provided.

Note that registrants will receive a link to additional pre-recorded content, which should be viewed prior to the start of the class.

COVID-19 Information: This class may shift to a virtual format due to COVID-19. Additionally, as of December 2022, all visitors to Zone 7 must wear a mask while indoors, regardless of vaccination status. It is presumed that this requirement will still be in place when the training occurs.

Since the launch of his independent eco-landscape contracting firm in 2011, Christopher Reamer has worked extensively throughout California at the cutting edge of landscape water conservation. Awarded the "Water Awareness of the Year” award in 2013 from the City of Santa Rosa for extensive work with the development of greywater, rainwater and high-efficiency irrigation systems, Chris has instructed over 40 landscape water conservation trainings in both English and Spanish, installed over 60 greywater irrigation systems and numerous water efficient landscapes for diverse clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
